​The smooth greensnake is much more of a terrestrial snake than its relative, the rough greensnake, which is much more of a climbing snake
Range of habitat:
Smooth Greensnake is found throughout most of the eastern half of the U.S., with additional populations extending south along the Atlantic coast of Mexico.
Orange counties indicate new records since previous Herps of Texas updated in 1998; all other colors represent counties with known Smooth Greensnake population prior to 1998
