A medium-sized skink reaching a maximum snout vent length of 2.8 inches, and a maximum total length of 7 inches

Dorsum of head, body, and tail brown to gray; dorsum of body with 5-9 narrow, black, undulating crossbands
crossbands may be distinct or indistinct; sides light gray to dark brown or black with portions of crossbands or black flecking
The Eastern Fence Lizard does not have a dewlap

Habitat:
The Eastern Fence lizard lives in a number of habitats including woodlands, grasslands, and shrub-lands. but they usually stick to areas with trees.
Range of habitat:

Eastern Fence Lizards can be found from New York, south to northern Florida and as far west as Ohio and Arkansas
